Chemfoam® Integral Skin Foam (ISF) Systems
Applications

Integral Skin Foams are most commonly used for moulding components for the furniture, automotive and marine markets that require a cushioning, resilient cellular structure surrounded by a tough, hard wearing outer skin. These "two phase" components are moulded in a single operation, using a single polyurethane system.

Components typically moulded in ISF include automotive bumper overriders, steering wheels, dash & interior panels and crash padding, plus "soft feel" arm and head rests.

Features

Our Chemind Hi-Tec Polymers Chemfoam® integral skin foam systems offer the following features:

  • Densities from 50 kg/m3 to 600 kg/m3.
  • Available in standard or fire retarded grades.
  • Excellent skin formation characteristics.
  • High tear strength.
  • Excellent flow properties, making them highly suitable for the production of large or difficult mouldings.
  • Excellent moulding characteristics, foam flow & rapid demoulding.
  • Superior physical properties.
  • Can be moulded to low (150 kg/m3) densities, resulting in a desirable “soft feel” moulded product, or can be moulded to a more typical density (400-800 kg/m3) by over packing.
  • Designed for processing through standard high or low pressure polyurethane dispensing equipment, or for hand mixing if required.
  • As with all of our products, systems can be specifically formulated to suit your requirements and process.
