Dramatic changes in sound-deadening requirements proposed for the Building Code of Australia, have caused a total re-appraisal of floor finishes and systems by responsible architects and leading building contractors, in Australia’s rapidly burgeoning construction of residential apartments.

Consumer demand for improved standards of acoustic insulation has forced a major change in the treatment of rigid surfaced suspended floors in the rapidly growing sector of high-rise apartments in CBD areas and medium rise, high-density housing projects in urban areas.

Acoustic Underlays necessary to meet these new, demanding standards are generally low build, sound-deadening systems providing highly efficient acoustic insulation to rigid ceramic, stone, timber strip and parquetry laid over suspended reinforced concrete, precast panel, CFC and timber floors.

These Acoustic Underlay systems isolate sound transmission from impact or foot traffic on ceramic tiles, terracotta or stone paving, timber strip flooring and parquetry, when laid over suspended floors in residential structures, apartments, hospitals, nursing homes, offices and commercial buildings with habitable spaces beneath.  Acoustic Underlay is also necessary for isolation of noise and vibration from electric motors, pumps and mechanical equipment
