Chemfoam® - Polyurea Protective Coatings
Description
A range of fast reacting, high strength, flexible spray elastomers employing polyurea chemistry to impart truly unique material properties.
These products are designed as long life protective coatings to concrete, masonry, steel and other prepared substrates in a variety of infrastructure, civil, commercial and domestic applications. They are equally well suited to new construction and remedial works, particularly where traditional protective coatings have proven unsuitable due to substrate movement. Chemspray primer systems are supplied with our polyurea products, providing you with a complete coating system offering fast cure and excellent adhesion to a range of substrates.
There are three main product types within the Chemspray Polyurea coating range:
Pure Polyurea Spray Elastomer – employing fast reacting, non-catalysed polyurea chemistry for spray application. Pure polyurea offers the highest strength, elongation, abrasion resistance and chemical resistance in the range. Also provides potable water certification to AS/NZS 4020.
Hybrid Polyurea Spray Elastomer – employing fast reacting, mixed polyurea and polyurethane chemistry for spray application. Hybrid polyurea provides a mix of high strength and elongation, good abrasion resistance, good chemical resistance at a lower cost. These products are not suitable for potable water contact.
Hybrid Polyurea Joint Filling Elastomer – employing slow reacting, mixed polyurea and polyurethane chemistry for poured or injected joint filling applications. These products are formulated as low hardness very flexible materials designed specifically for full depth joint filling operations, particularly where conventional materials and joint geometry designs have proven unsuitable.
Uses
Pure Polyurea Spray Elastomer
- Potable water approved protective coatings to desalination & waste water treatment plants, water storage reservoirs & tanks. Suitable for salt, fresh and deionised water contact
- Protection of substrates in sewage treatment plants. Resistant to hydrogen sulphide and acid vapour encountered in these installations
- Sealing and protection of secondary (and some primary) containment areas in chemical treatment & storage facilities
- Coating of mining equipment to provide tough, abrasion resistant linings
Hybrid Polyurea Spray Elastomer
- Protection and sealing of concrete or steel structures in non-potable water applications.
- Rapid installation of high elongation, flexible seals to road tunnel smoke ducts
- Waterproof membrane system to bridge decks, support pylons and manholes
- Rapid application of waterproof membranes to roof decks, podium decks, landscaped areas and planter boxes – See our Construction Products section for further details on waterproofing applications
- In-mould spray production of automotive and other moulded components
Hybrid Polyurea Joint Filling Elastomer
- Installation of full depth joint sealant to expansion joints in paved public areas where the primary function is to resist dislodgement of sealant by high heeled footwear

- Rapid application – Over 1000 m2 per day is possible on open areas
