Chempol™ - MDI Cold Cure Cast Elastomers

Description
A range of low toxicity, MDI based (Methylene Diphenyl Diisocyanate), cold cure cast elastomers, designed for a wide variety of moulding operations requiring ambient temperature processing and curing.
These materials have good physical properties such as tensile & tear strength plus high elongation and are available in a range of hardness from a soft & flexible 25°A to hard & rigid 75°D.
They are commonly used in the engineering, electrical, theme park/model making and concrete casting industries.

Uses
Engineering

  • Moulding of bushes, lip seals, flexible couplings, drive belts, gaskets, rollers, vibration isolators, wheels, tear resistant moulds, potting and encapsulation processes

Electrical

  • Moulding of low to medium voltage electrical insulation components, potting and encapsulation processes

Theming & Model Making

  • Production of flexible moulds,  manufacture of Animatronics, theme park displays, soft safety surfaces, wear resistant bushes, structural components, artificial bone, functional anatomical models

Concreting

  • Production of high strength, flexible moulds used in the manufacture of textured, pre-cast concrete panels, pavers and concrete stencilling

Features

  • Available in a range of hardness – from 20°A to 75°D
  • Available in a range of gel times – from seconds to hours
  • Designed for processing at ambient (20°C to 30°C ) temperature
  • Elevated temperature post curing is not necessary
  • Contain no TDI isocyanate or MOCA curative
  • Excellent physical properties
  • Good abrasion resistance
  • An economical alternative to other types of moulding materials
  • Grades are available having excellent resistance to water, fuels, oils,  many chemicals and to microbial attack
  • Designed for processing by hand mixing or through heated, low pressure polyurethane elastomer dispensing equipment
