Located directly on the Brisbane River, the apartments back onto the Mirvac constructed Newstead River Park, consisting of parkland and an 8000m² ornamental lake. Chemind Chemspray 790 spray applied polyurea has been selected as the material of choice for in-situ forming of an impervious, waterproof lake liner system. The liner system and sequence of application was developed through consultation with Mirvac, Leisure Engineering (lake designer), Chemind and Glindemann Industrial Coatings (liner applicator). It has been designed to provide a long-life liner system consisting of Chemspray 790 polyurea spray elastomer applied over a specially selected geotextile fabric. This composite liner is capable of resisting not only the enormous weight of water involved, but also the placement of a 150mm thick river stone bed which forms a natural biotope lake substrate.

Orford Refrigeration are well recognised and respected as being the major producer of refrigerated cabinets in this country. Many of us will open the door of an Orfords product every day without even realising it. Of importance to Orford Refrigeration and their clients is minimising environmental impact of their products. With this in mind, Chemind formulated new generation insulation foams having Zero Ozone Depleting Potential (Zero ODP), Zero Global Warming Potential (Zero GWP) and Zero Volatile Organic Compounds (Zero VOC). Further, unlike other local and international manufacturers of display cabinets and refrigerators, this insulation foam contains no flammable or hydrocarbon derived blowing agents (also known as foaming or expansion agents). The only blowing agent utilised in this insulation is clean, pure water! Our Chemfoam water blown system has been in continuous use at Orfords since 2003 and has proved to be a performance material having low density and exceptional properties of long term dimensional stability, thermal insulation, foam flow and adhesion to cabinetry. The fast 6 second cure time of Chemspray 790 allows for rapid application of large or small areas. Application rates of over 1000m² per day are readily achievable. Clem7 Tunnel – Brisbane - Polyurea Smoke Duct Joint Sealant
An important safety feature of the Clem Jones Tunnel, the smoke duct allows rapid evacuation of smoke in the event of a major vehicle accident. The joint sealant was required to be smoke, water & vapour tight, highly elastic, have high adhesion & tear strength and allow for rapid installation. Our proposed joint design, method of spray application and Chemspray polyurea elastomer met all requirements and was selected as the product of choice on this project. Rapid application and a cure time of 6 seconds allowed for very efficient Chemspray 790 application. Combined with the applicator’s skills, effective resource management and planning, completion of the 6.8 km of joint sealing in both the North and South bound tunnels, was achieved well within scheduled timeframes - An outcome unattainable through use of other proposed sealing systems. Utilising spray applied elastomers for this application was a first in Australia and goes to show the incredible versatility of the Chemspray range.
Chemind Rubber Binder Makes Surfacing Child's Play
This product has been rigorously evaluated over the past 24 months and has come up trumps for use in wet pour soft fall and rubber surfacing applications. One of the key properties is excellent binding at hot and cold joints giving a completely monolithic surface with no separation where different colours are incorporated. Chempol 12-123 also exhibits excellent properties of adhesion, flexibility, strength and structural stability. Pads laid over twelve months ago are showing very reasonable colour retention for an aromatic binder and no signs of shrinkage, embrittlement or excessive ageing. Moulding bonded rubber can be difficult, but Chempol 12-123 has been developed with viscosity, speed of cure, build and strength in mind giving the right properties for use in manufacturing large and small plugs and moulds. Polyurethane Marine Buoyancy Foam
This product has been developed specifically as pour-in-place, closed cell foam for production of permanent buoyancy cells within the hulls of boats and other pleasure craft. The foam system offers an easy to use 1:1 mix ratio, fast cure and excellent foam flow properties allowing filling of complex buoyancy cells with narrow cross-section. It is also well suited to foam filling of marine buoys, channel markers, pontoons, floats and other items requiring permanent buoyancy. This project is the largest microfiltration plant of its kind in Australia with a capacity of 100ML/D and further expansion potential of 150ML/D. Chemspray 690 system was chosen for its excellent properties of rapid lay down, AS/NZS 4020 potable water certification, high chemical resistance and most importantly reduced potential for pin holing. Pin holing, commonly caused by porosity in the substrate or working with green concrete, will lead to failures of the membrane integrity and waterproofing capabilities. Chemspray 690 performed exceptionally well in all areas of use at Bray Park and has been proven to be highly successful at penetrating porous concrete substrates thus achieving a pinhole free coating with high adhesion and integrity. Chemspray 690 is well suited to all water treatment, water storage and sewage treatment industries where potable water and/or high chemical resistance is required. It is designed for permanent immersion in demineralised, fresh, salt and brine solutions, plus sewage liquors high in hydrogen sulphide and sulphuric acid vapour.
